Don’t worry about the trails. Let the trails worry about you. The Altra Timp 5 is designed to give you superior cushion, traction, and durability on trails of all stripes, from relatively well-manicured rail trails and fire roads to rugged, rocky mountain trails.
EGO Max cushioning provides a soft ride with enough responsiveness to keep you moving forward. An all-new Vibram Megagrip outsole is made from sticky rubber that ensures grip in both wet and dry conditions, and strategically-placed flex grooves make for a trail running shoe adaptable to all kinds of terrain.
WHY PACERS CARRIES THESE SHOES:
Trail runners know that not all trails are created equal. They range from well-groomed rail trails that are basically soft roads to rocky mountain passes that require maximum traction and protection. You could equip yourself with a different shoe for each kind of terrain, or you could lace up the workhorse Altra Timp 5 and not worry too much about it.
The Altra Timp 5 has plenty of soft and responsive EGO Max cushioning in the midsole to protect your legs from both rocks and abusive miles. A grippy Vibram Megagrip rubber outsole ensures sure footing on all surfaces in all conditions. The Altra Timp 5 might just be the only trail running shoe you’ll ever need.
WHAT’S NEW:
The Altra Timp 5 comes with an all-new Vibram Megagrip outsole, made from sticky rubber for excellent traction on both wet and dry surfaces. With the quality of a Vibram outsole, you can also expect increased durability across all terrain. An updated EGO Max compound in the midsole provides a more stable ride than previous versions with the responsiveness to propel you through the trails.

HOW THEY COMPARE TO OTHER SHOES:

CUSHION: The Altra Timp 5 has a moderate level of soft cushioning. For a less cushioned option, we recommend the Altra Lone Peak 8. For even more cushion, we recommend the Altra Olympus 5.
-
PRONATION: The Altra Timp 5 doesn’t have any stability features to address overpronation. For a more stable shoe, we recommend the Altra Paradigm 7, though you may want to stick to the roads!
-
SPEED: The Altra Timp 5 has too much soft cushion to really go fast. For faster trail running, we recommend the Altra Mont Blanc.
- OTHER BRANDS: Shoes from other brands similar to the Altra Timp 5 are the Hoka Speedgoat 5, New Balance Fresh Foam X Hierro v7, and Craft Endurance 2 Trail.
