The Lone Peak is the trail running shoe that put Altra on the map. And, like most great designs, the Lone Peak's basic design has changed very little over the years.
The MaxTrac outsole is versatile and rugged and outfitted with TrailClaw gripping lugs.
The single-density EGO midsole is responsive and bouncy.
The open toe box gives your toes room to move and is well protected from potential obstructions. It also has water drainage holes that are quite effective.
The most recent iterations of the Lone Peak are where you will find the biggest difference. A lightweight rubber cage provides most of the structure. Adjustable lacing perfectly allows the runner to make the rubber upper work with his or her own fit.
Altra knows what they have with the Lone Peak, and the minor changes to the design haven't changed the basic core design that has earned so many followers.
