Pacers Events
Since our beginning in 2004, Pacers Events has evolved into the leading boutique race management company in the greater Washington D.C. area. Under the direction of Pacers Event Managing Partner, Kathy Dalby, our organization has created a collection of events focused on delivering a unique and exciting race experience for our participants.
Our company was formed after the hugely successful inaugural Gulf Coast Relief Run 5K, an event concept developed and executed only two and a half weeks after Hurricane Katrina. The event drew a crowd of over 4,000 participants, raised over $120,000 for relief efforts, and received local and national attention.
Pacers Events has extensive experience with bringing new events to the greater Washington D.C. metro area and has been the creative force behind some of the largest and most well-received race debuts in recent history. Our organization has developed, promoted, and executed over 15 inaugural Pacers events including the Crystal City Twilighter 5K, Four Courts Four Miler, Fairfax Four Miler, Clarendon Day 10K/5K, and the Crystal City 5K Fridays race series. We have also been successful in building the success of established races. Our marquee event, the Parkway Classic 10 Mile & 5K, began in 1984 as a 15K and quickly became a local favorite event. In 2006, Pacers Events acquired the event and quickly grew it from 2,500 registrants to a sell out crowd of 7,000 registrants.
Pacers Running Stores
Pacers Running Stores is a family owned and operated running and walking specialty retailer in the greater Washington DC area. Our current retail locations include: Old Town Alexandria, Clarendon (Arlington), Logan Circle (Washington, DC), Pentagon Row (Arlington), Downtown Silver Spring, and Old Town Fairfax.
Our flagship location, Pacers Alexandria, has been in business since 1991, and was acquired by the Farley family in 2003. We are considered experts in the field of running and have developed a strong following among area runners and fitness enthusiasts over the past 20 years. We provide only the best in running and walking shoes, apparel, and accessories and pride ourselves on our customer service, including our custom fit process, and involvement in our local community.
We have been honored with prestigious local, regional, and national awards, including: 2007 national Independent Running Retailers Association Community Service Award, Good Neighbor Award from the Alexandria Chapter of the American Red Cross, Best New Business award from the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, Best New Business award from the Fairfax City Chamber of Commerce, Commendation by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Alexandria for our service to the community, Friend of the Club Award: Boys & Girls Club – Alexandria-Olympic Branch and one of the 50 Best Running Stores as selected by Running Network.
